What’s new on board Dongfeng? Charles Caudrelier tell us more.

We are still on the same long tack on our speed run, but unfortunately in the last 36 hours we lost miles on all the fleet. All these position reports drive us crazy. All the other boats are going faster and we have been thinking that we have less wind in our position to the west of the fleet.

It seems to be the case but the difference of speed is really big and in the last report, Turn the Tide on Plastic, the closest boat to us, was more than one knot faster. So we decided to stop the boat and do a backdown to take off any weed or plastic on our appendages. I jumped into the sea to check that everything was OK. It was during the night but I managed to check with my torch and now we are back and the speed seems better.

Let’s see over the next 24 hours if our speed is back! But in any case the forecast is a bit better for the back of the fleet so they should come back on us a bit.
