The program for the day according to Charles

Today light air is on our Volvo Ocean Race programme and it’s a warm day. The water temperature has increased to 29 degrees. We are not likely to reach our Pacific record of 34.5, but the next week will be warm. The water temperature really makes life harder inside the boat.

The latest routing projections are quite fast but It could be a bit boring with 90% of the time on starboard tack. There are two key points ahead of us: in three days we cross the Doldrums, which seems quite strong, and then there is a big transition two days before the finishing line. In between there is a long speed test game ahead.
So it’s not a very tough leg but quite a long one. So, to keep us busy, we have created a new contest on board. We have a Rubix Cube with us. We will have time to train and there should be some nice footage to come of us all taking turns to solve it.
