“If we succeed it will be magic, if we fail it will be so hard”  - Caudrelier

“It has been 4 days since we left Itajai. When we left we we faced a very tricky situation on how to exit Rio bay and try to catch the trade winds offshore. This, as always, was whilst having a big fight with the rest of the fleet.”

The leg starts are becoming more and more difficult. Passing Cape Horn in Leg 7 and being back in the Atlantic always gives you the feeling that you have done the toughest part of the race and that it is nearly finished but this is wrong.

The only difference is you are already exhausted by the previous seven legs and you need to find more energy for four more legs.

The next four legs are also four very difficult legs. This leg is a tricky one, then you have one of the toughest and fastest legs followed by two sprints around Europe with no sleep and many manoeuvres. And throughout all of these legs you will have to sail through them with increasing pressure and the stress of the result.

We have fought so much and we have worked so hard to be here today that only one result will make us happy at the end. If we succeed it will be magic, if we fail it will be so hard.
